Legend has it that the Wild Turkey brand came about after Thomas McCarthy, an Austin Nichols executive, took bourbon samples with him on a wild turkey hunting expedition in 1940 and his fellow hunters loved the whiskey so much that they continually asked him to bring his “Wild Turkey Bourbon” on trips and Austin Nichols subsequently started bottling Wild Turkey in 1942. Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon is 58.4% ABV with no additional water added once distilled and is a mix of 6, 8, and 12-year-old Wild Turkey whiskey, that produces a super-smooth blend that’s best served neat or on the rocks.
