Masataka Taketsuru is the founder of Nikka Whisky Distilling. In 1918, this aspiring Japanese whisky distiller travelled to Scotland to learn organic chemistry and the malt whisky production process. 2 years later he returned to Japan after marrying Glasgow lass, Jessie Roberta “Rita” Cowan, and established Nikka Whisky Distilling in 1934, after working with Kotobukiya for several years. Nikka Black Rich Blend is a 40% ABV Japanese Blended Whisky and the latest addition to Nikka’s Black core range that draws from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries to create a soft, warm dram. Perfect when served neat or on the rocks.
